42 acres of protected queensland forest

So much more than a destination

What makes Alaya Verde different is the land. Together, the subtropical forest, the wildlife, and our 30-plus years of mindful regeneration define the unique Sunshine Coast sanctuary we have created for retreat, reset, and relaxation.

REGENERATING AND HARVESTING

Living lightly on the land

Since arriving in the Noosa Hinterland in 1995, caring for this land has been an important part of life at Alaya Verde. Over the years, we’ve worked to regenerate the soil, encourage the natural forest, and grow more of the food we enjoy and share with our guests.

Our 42 acres of subtropical forest adjoin the Tewantin National Park, creating a wonderfully secluded setting surrounded by native bushland. Within it, we practice regenerative horticulture, and now grow more than 35 species of fruiting trees alongside organic herbs, fruits, and vegetables that make their way to our table – and often to yours.

We’re gradually working towards greater self-suffiency. Solar provides an increasing share of our energy, while garden and kitchen plant waste is returned to the land through composting, our free-range chickens, and our worm farms.

For us, it’s an ongoing process rather than a finished product: growing what we can, wasting less, and leaving the land healthier for the years ahead,

  • Regenerating the soil Since 1995
  • cultivating 35 Fruiting Tree Species
  • harvesting Seasonal organic Produce
  • harnessing renewable Solar Power
  • Recycling with Chickens & Wormeries

WILDLIFE CUSTODIANS

Nature is your nearest neighbour

Some of Australia’s most iconic wild animals and birds make Alaya Verde their home, including kangaroos, koalas, parakeets, peacocks, and kingfishers. Watch them up close from your private space and then, when night falls, turn your gaze skywards to take in the moon and stars.

The rhythm of the seasons

Summer

December – February

Hot, humid, and drenched in afternoon storms, with dawn and dusk filled with rich, joyful birdsong and nights alive with the chorus of frogs. Our 42 acres of subtropical forest are a vibrant, green cathedral. Best enjoyed from the verandah or pool, drink in hand.

Autumn

March - May

Autumn takes its time arriving at Alaya Verde. March and April often remain hot, humid, and lush, with tropical rain keeping the forest intensely green. Then May brings the shift: cooler mornings, lower humidity, and the start of the beautiful drier season.

Winter

June - August

Cool, clear, and still under bright blue skies. Crisp mornings give way to golden afternoons and star-studded nights. Wattles bloom in August and the wood fire earns its keep. Days are for exploring country markets, local festivals and farm gatherings.

Spring

September - November

The forest comes alive with birdsong and new growth as the days grow warmer. September and October bring some of our loveliest weather – warm, dry days and comfortable nights. By November, temperatures rise and summer’s afternoon storms return.
